Sr. Program Manager- Initiatives, Training, and Recruitment
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of San Mateo County recruits, trains and supports volunteers to work one-on-one with children and youth in the San Mateo County foster care and juvenile justice systems. CASA volunteers form trusted relationships with young people, acting as a mentor and advocate for in court and the larger community. By being a consistent adult presence in a child’s life amidst changing homes, caretakers, social workers and other professionals, our volunteers provide hope and healing to children who are navigating traumatic circumstances.
Position Overview:
Reporting to and in collaboration with the Program Director, the Senior Program Manager supervises, evaluates, and advises program team members that work on CASA’s new initiatives as well as the recruitment and training programs. The Sr. Program Manager serves on the organization’s leadership team and helps develop and implement new initiatives to better serve our youth as well as improve our recruitment and training programs. The person in this role acts as a representative of the organization (as needed), advocates for children and youth, and facilitates volunteer training.
The ideal candidate is an experienced human services professional with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills who is organized, has sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills and consistently exercises discretion.
Reports to: Program Director
Status: Full-time, exempt; 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work required
Location: Redwood Shores, California
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead organization initiatives, special projects and events. Develop project timelines, monitor and manage budgets, keep project/initiative on tasks, and report on progress.
- Supervise full-time recruitment and training staff, as well as additional staff working on special projects and initiatives.
- Manage all recruitment and training activities for the organization, including overseeing evaluation, establishing goals, and tracking progress towards goals
- Ensure robust evaluation and data collection for all programming and report outcome and data to funders in a timely manner
- Serve on the organization’s leadership team, frequently contributing ideas for strategic growth, reporting on outcomes and goals, and working with development to identify and build outcomes and goals for programs and new initiatives
- Conduct training for prospective CASA volunteers and continuing education workshops. Participation will include some evening and weekend work.
- Ensure CASA volunteer and child records are accurate and up to date by collecting and verifying data.
- Represent CASA to maintain relationships and build partnerships with professional and community partners, including but not limited to Department of Children and Family services, attorneys, the court and other service providers.
- Own up to 2 specialty areas, including but not limited to:
- Identify and develop resources to educate and support volunteers in the specialty area.
- Identify speakers for and/or lead trainings in subjects relevant to specialty.
- Participate in and help facilitate volunteer orientation and recruitment efforts, as needed.
- Participate in Ad-hoc projects as requested
- Attend CASA events and collaboration in the planning of them as needed.
- Manage and provide direct oversight to actively assigned and available CASA volunteers and/or provide coverage for volunteer support as needed.
Qualification and Skills:
- Minimum of five years prior relevant work experience (i.e. volunteer/people management, case management, supporting youth programs, children or families in the juvenile court system). Experience with dependency and juvenile justice systems preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. Bilingual, Spanish- speaking preferred.
- Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Demonstrated cultural humility.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills. Experience with supervision of volunteers, preferred.
- Collaborative team player. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituencies (ex. volunteers, community partners, judicial officers, attorneys, social workers).
- Able to work independently with strong initiative and flexibility. Position requires some evening and weekend hours.
- Interest in and commitment to CASA’s mission with ability to articulately and passionately communicate CASA’s mission, programs and accomplishments to the greater community.
- Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to successfully pass FBI, DOJ, DMV and CACI background checks.
Salary and Benefits:
- Starting salary commensurate with experience with starting range at $82-$87K
- 160 hours of PTO and 14 paid holidays to start
